Boat Gear Australia P/L is an Australian company which is 100% owned and managed by Ruth Cunningham, who has over forty nine years experience working in the Australian Marine Industry. 
 
About the Owner:
Ruth grew up across Pittwater (no car access) - she commuted to school by tinnie, deckhanded on the ferries, built herself a 25ft fibreglass yacht, and enjoyed sailing, windsurfing, cruising and ocean racing.
Ruth's work experience includes being Store Manager, Buyer, and General Manager of Whitworths (over a 10 year period), as well as managing three other major national marine retail chandlery businesses.

Ruth was also co-owner and publisher, of the well-known national magazines, Australian Boating, Trailerboat Fisherman, and Fisherman & Boatowner (F&B) magazines for 23 years. 
During this time (1989-2013) Ruth, and Australian Boating magazine editor Peter Webster, water tested over 2,000 boats! 
They produced brochures and catalogues for most of the marine industry, and they built and fitted out over 30 project boats (mostly powered trailer boats 3 - 9 metres). 
Once completed, the project boats were trailered and cruised throughout Australia to places such as Hinchinbrook, Bermagui, 1770, Port Stephens, Pittwater, Gold Coast, Cairns, Fraser island, Townsville, Palm Islands, and Cooktown to name just a few.
In 2013, Ruth decided to return to chandlery, she worked for a number of marine equipment retailers, but was frustrated by the lack of commitment to good customer service.

 In late 2018, Boat Gear Australia Pty Ltd became a reality, and, after many hours of work behind the scenes, this extensive webstore was launched. 

Ruth is happy to share her wide, pratical, boating experience and chandlery knowledge, with fellow boat owners, with honest advice, ethical customer service, and, a genuine commitment to deliver the best value for money products.
